About Katie
After retiring from 20 + years of teaching Physical Science I decided to use my knowledge of nature, color, texture, force, motion and gravity to start a second career in art. Art has always been one of my passions since childhood! Drawing is innate, painting took some work.

I have taken workshops with Gary Baughman and Janet Suarez. However, much credit must be given to Marsha Hamby Savage who has taught me many techniques enabling me to be a better artist.
Pastels are my favorite tool to paint the places that I have visited. A piece is completed when it talks to me and says “Quit before you kill me…I am done!” When people see my work I like them to roam through the painting and, hopefully, enjoy the beauty and serenity of the surroundings depicted of the world as I have witnessed it during my travels.
